Description of a new species of the genus Raphitoma Bellardi, 1847 from the Mediterranean Sea (Mollusca Neogastropoda Conoidea Raphitomidae)

    ABSTRACT
The family of Raphitomidae is currently considered a well supported clade of the Conoidea. The type genus Raphitoma Bellardi, 1847 is well known in the mediterranen Seas with about 40 species, some of which are still undescribed. Morphological analyses carried out on the genus Raphitoma Bellardi, 1847 (Mollusca Neogastropoda Conoidea Raphitomidae) from Mediterranean Sea allowed to identify a new species which is described in the present paper.

A revision of the Mediterranean Raphitomidae, 3: on the Raphitoma pupoides (Monterosato, 1884) complex, with the description of a new species (Mollusca Gastropoda)

    ABSTRACT
In the present work we present a complex of species of the family Raphitomidae (Mollusca Gastropoda) comprising three entities: two have multispiral protoconchs, Raphitoma pupoides (Monterosato, 1884), the less known R. radula (Monterosato, 1884) and a new species with paucispiral protoconch.

On Parthenina monozona (Brusina, 1869) and its variability (Gastropoda Heterobranchia Pyramidellidae)

    ABSTRACT
Study of type material of Parthenina monozona (Brusina, 1869), preserved at Croatian Natural History Museum (CNHM), consisting of four specimens, three of which well preserved, has proved that this species is senior synonym of Parthenina intermixta (Monterosato, 1884). Brusina’s name has priority over monterosato’s name, because it is older. The polymorphism of this species is discussed.

Coen’s Pyramidellidae (Gastropoda, Heterobranchia): a revision of types
Proceedings of the Eighth Malacological Pontine Meeting, October 4th-5th, 2014 - San Felice Circeo, Italy

    ABSTRACT
Coen introduced several new nominal taxa in the Pyramidellidae and in most Mollusca families. The Coen types, now at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, have been examined; most of them are holotypes or lectotypes. Some lectotypes were already selected by van Aartsen, as stated in the label, therefore we have not done any further selection of types. The new pyramidellid species have been practically identified and named by Monterosato, and were all found in shell grit collected on the beach of Lido (a small island in front of Venice). None of the Coen’s new species seems to be valid.

Nomenclatural observations on the Erctella Monterosato, 1894 species (Gastropoda, Helicidae) from the “Rocca” of Cefalù (Italy, Sicily)

    ABSTRACT
The taxon “cephalaeditana” was introduced in 1986 by the authors to indicate a endemic species from the “Rocca” of Cefalù; this species was discovered, named, but never described by E. Pirajno sicilian naturalist (1809-1864). The unusual description was accepted under Articles 11d and 13a of the ICZN Code edition in use at that time, but not to create nomenclatural uncertainties that would be obviously aggravated by the possible introduction of other names, different from the one Pirajno wanted to use for this discovery, we proceed here to a formal (re-)description of the taxon in question.

Odostomia brevicula Jeffreys, 1883 junior synonym of Turbonilla amoena (Monterosato, 1878) (Gastropoda, Heterobranchia, Pyramidellidae)

    ABSTRACT
Based on the study of the type material of Odostomia brevicula Jeffreys, 1883, deposited in the United States National Museum Washington (USNM), this doubtful taxon appears to be based on two immature shells of Turbonilla amoena (Monterosato, 1878) of which it shall be considered a junior synonym.
