    ABSTRACT
The species of spiders (Arachnida Araneae) found in the “Isola delle Femmine Nature Reserve” (Sicily, Italy) are reported here. The checklist provided is the result of some excursions carried out between 2021 and 2023 and aimed at studying the invertebrate fauna that live on this small island. In total, up to date, 42 species, belonging to 38 genera and 19 families, are listed, among these Diplostyla concolor (Wider, 1834) is reported for the first time for Sicily.

The arachnofauna of this area of the Island is poorly studied, to date only 16 species of spiders are reported for this municipality. 180 taxa of spiders are known in total now, 15 of this (1 first report in Italy) and 6 genera are new for Sicily, in particular Pritha nana (Simon, 1868) (Filistatidae), Micaria coarctata (Lucas, 1846), Micaria dives (Lucas, 1846), Poecilochroa loricata Kritscher, 1996 (Gnaphosidae) (new for Italy), Agroeca sp., Scotina celans (Blackwall, 1841) (Liocranidae), Bolyphantes luteolus (Blackwall, 1833), Centromerus arcanus (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1873), Lepthyphantes minutus (Blackwall, 1833), Linyphia mimonti Simon, 1885, Megalepthyphantes collinus (L. Koch, 1872), Walckenaeria corniculans (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1875), Walckenaeria monoceros (Wider, 1834) (Linyphiidae), Synageles venator (Lucas, 1836) (Salticidae) and Enoplognatha afrodite Hippa et Oksala, 1983 (Theridiidae) and 3 species of opilions. Additional biological and taxonomic notes on these spiders are also provided.

Pickard-Cambridge, 1871); Entelecara erythropus (Westring, 1851); Hilaira excisa (O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1871); Parapelecopsis nemoralis (Blackwall, 1841); Trichoncus helveticus Denis, 1965; Alopecosa cuneata (Clerck, 1757); Tibellus macellus Simon, 1875; Scytodes univittata Simon, 1882; Rhomphaea nasica (Simon, 1873); Zodarion isabellinum (Simon, 1870): Zodarion pusio Simon, 1914. Six genera are reported for the first time for Sicily while Nemoscolus laurae and Zodarion isabellinum are new also for Italian fauna. Additional biological and taxonomic notes are also provided.

Checklist of spiders and opiliones (Arachnida Araneae, Opiliones) of Sicilian southest swamp lakes “Pantano Cuba”, “Pantano Longarini” and “Pantano Bruno” (Italy). Fifth contribution to knowledge of Sicilian spider fauna
    https://doi.org/10.31396/Biodiv.Jour.2021.12.3.695.703

    ABSTRACT
We present a first checklist of Araneae and Opiliones of Pantano Bruno, Pantano Cuba and Pantano Longarini, swamp lakes which are part of one of the most important Sicilian wetland, never studied before for this group of arthropoda, located in the southeast coast of Sicily, between Ispica (Ragusa) and Pachino (Syracuse). From March 2016 until February 2021 samples and data were collected on the field, investigating different types of habitat. In total, 98 different species belonging to 86 genera and 27 families of spiders were found in the area, plus 3 species of 2 genera and 1 families of opilions. The checklist includes interesting first sicilian records of Cyrtarachne ixoides (Simon, 1870) (Araneidae), Crustulina guttata (Wider, 1834) (Theridiidae), Eratigena fuesslini (Pavesi, 1873) (Agelenidae), Nurscia albomaculata (Lucas, 1846) (Titanoecidae) and Tibellus maritimus (Menger, 1875) (Philodromidae). Additional biological, distribution and chorotype information are indicated for each of the new records.

Little Egret Egretta garzetta (Linnaeus, 1766) (Pelecaniformes Ardeidae) and Eurasian crag martin Ptyonoprogne rupestris (Scopoli, 1769) (Passeriformes Hirundidae), two new breeding species for the Egadi Islands (W-Sicily, Italy)
    https://doi.org/10.31396/Biodiv.Jour.2021.12.3.629.633

    ABSTRACT
For the first time, the nesting of Eurasian crag martin Ptyonoprogne rupestris (Scopoli, 1769) (Passeriformes Hirundinidae) and Little egret Egretta garzetta (Linnaeus, 1766) (Pelecaniformes Ardeidae) in the Aegadian Islands (W-Sicily, Italy) is reported. Of particular interest is the nesting of the Little egret on the island of Maraone resulting in the first report for Sicily of a heronry on a marine island. Although this nesting environment has already been established in Sardinia, it should be emphasized that until now the establishment of a heronry has never been detected on an islet so far from the mainland.

    ABSTRACT
The spider Trichonchus aurantiipes Simon, 1844 (Araneae Linyphiidae), a species never reported before for Italy, was found, sampled and identified in two different Sicilian locations: Ispica, province of Ragusa, in the south-eastern coast of Sicily, and Castelvetrano, province of Trapani, in the north-western side of the region. This record represents a new genus and a new species for Sicily and Italy. Additional notes on the taxonomy, distribution and biology are provided.
